Why I'll miss Brisbane

okay, well - one of the reasons. There are a LOT of spectacular photo opportunites. That generally coincide with fun times! And I'll miss that!

Top: Kangaroo Point from the jetty that got washed away in the floods.
next: view from the Goodwill bridge (I think?) on the Brisbane River
next: maritime museum
bottom: Riverfire Dump&Burn from Coronation Drive

However I feel there will be plenty (albeit cold) photo & fun times opportunities in UB!

EXCITEMENT MUCH?

Last night I must have dreamt more than slept, because I'm insanely tired for having had an 8hr sleep. Nevermind. It hasn't quashed my EXCITEMENT.

It just kind of popped up on me just now. Joe, a super cool geo that's about to start working with us (to kind of take over my job and another dude's), is starting TOMORROW which has made me insanely excited. It means I get to show him around, which is always fun. But it also means so much more. Like, there's actually somone to take over my job - which means I'm actually leaving...........

7 more days of work. Tomorrow will be busy having a work lunch and then post work-lunch drinks. And then busy having a birthday party at my friend Bec's house (from State SRC - I still LOVE that we're in the same city), and then picking Matt&Jen up from the airport to start our birthday weekend!

Saturday run sheet:
6am wake up; make amazing breakfast
7am eat breakfast, set up lawn mowers
7-8am mow lawn
8-10am clean house
10am ish - Gma and Wendie arrive
10-12 - make amazing mini choc mud cupcakes
12 noon - daiquiri machine arrives; sit and drink daiquiri
12-2pm - potentially get hair cut. Otherwise organise pizzas/defrost pre-made sausage rolls
2-2:10pm - drink another daiquiri
2-3pm - pick my mum up from airport (HOORAHHHH!!!)
3-4pm - final sorting out of things/make pretty/blow balloons/set up beds for extras
4-WHENEVER - eat, drink and be merry!

And that's just Saturday. Hopefully Sunday won't be too hungover!!!!!

White or Chocolate?

This is too much fun - updating myself on how my day is going.

Right now, I'm trying to decide whether to
a. buy a birthday cake thus removing any hassles with party planning
b. make my own cake
c. make choc mud or white choc mud.

Matt likes chocolate. I like dark chocolate. I guess that's why we never fell in love like everyone predicted.

32 days and counting

I'm writing a list of things to buy before my farewell/birthday party this weekend. Which means there are 32 days til departure and I am SO ready. The more I think about it, the more scared I get - so I think about the logistics a LOT less. Everything's ticked off my list. Except gym socks and toothpaste.
My farewell/birthday event was ideally going to be small and easy. At 50 people and counting, I'm now adding pizzas and chicken wings to the catering list because the 5kg of sausage rolls won't do. The 30L of daiquiris arrive at midday and my mum arrives at 2.
Woohoo! Party time!
